The time may come when more stud and animal seedstock enterprises should consider testing their animals for their feed conversion efficiency.
This applies to both cattle and sheep enterprises and, indeed, any animal enterprise where the cost of production has to be closely managed.
It simply makes sense that the animals in our paddocks should make the most efficient use of the feed they eat.
While the process of accurately measuring feed conversion efficiency may appear expensive, it is one of those things that will steadily contribute to a more commercially sound production enterprise as the years go by.
Not only will it be more commercially productive for individual producers, it will assist meat production industries generally.
